Community Waves is the heart of Peninsular Surf Research’s digital hub—a living archive dedicated to the voices, experiences, and cultural energies that shape our surf coastlines. This space celebrates the people who make up the pulse of Southeast Asia’s surf culture: from coastal communities, local surf clubs, board builders, environmental stewards, to first-time surfers catching their first wave.
Whether it's a fisherman from Terengganu sharing stories of monsoon tides, a surf instructor in Cherating documenting youth workshops, a surfboard artisan in Johor or a DIY surfboard builder crafting surfboards in his Singapore HDB home—Community Waves brings these diverse narratives together into a shared shoreline of stories.
We believe surfing is more than a sport—it’s a medium for connection, expression, and empowerment. Here, we document community-led initiatives, collaborative projects, photo essays, interviews, and behind-the-scenes processes that often go unnoticed but are essential in shaping the identity of our regional surf culture.
This space is also open for contribution. Have a story, a workshop, an idea, or a photo journal to share? Reach out! Community Waves grows stronger when more voices join the swell.
